URGENT: Single Mother Facing Loss of Housing, No Vehicle, and Overwhelming Medical Debt After Near-Fatal Accident
My name is Brittany, and I am a single mother trying to keep my son safe and stable while everything around us is falling apart.
Six years ago, my husband passed away, and since then it has just been the two of us. I have carried the responsibility of raising my son alone, doing everything I could to give him a sense of normalcy and security.
In August of 2023, my life changed overnight. I was involved in a severe car accident while working, and I nearly lost my life. I suffered multiple spinal fractures that required surgical fusion, both of my lungs collapsed, my chest was shattered, and I underwent multiple emergency procedures, including a tracheostomy. I was placed in a medically induced coma for about a week and spent an extended time in the hospital fighting to survive.
Since that accident, nothing has been the same. I am now dealing with overwhelming medical bills that I cannot keep up with, and my ability to work has been severely impacted.
Now, we are facing another crisis. The home we are currently living in is being sold, and my son and I do not know where we are going to go.
At the same time, I do not have a vehicle. Without transportation, I cannot reliably work, attend medical appointments, or provide basic stability for my child. Every day without a car makes it harder to move forward and increases the risk of us falling even further behind.
I am asking for help because I am out of options. I am trying to prevent my son and I from losing everything.
A reliable vehicle would be life-changing for us right now. It would allow me to work again, get to appointments, and start rebuilding some stability before it is too late.
I have fought through losing my husband and surviving a near-fatal accident. I am still here, still trying—but I cannot do this alone anymore.
