Dear Community,

It is deeply humbling to write these words, but I am in a financial crisis and have nowhere left to turn.  

I have been fighting the hardest battle of my life since March 4, 2026 when I was diagnosed with a rare Stage III anal canal cancer. I completed an aggressive 6-week treatment which included 30 radiation sessions, and two rounds of chemotherapy concurrently.  It was been brutal and the recovery period has proven to be even more debilitating.  I was told that by late June I should be able to resume my normal daily activities.  It's now almost August and I still struggle every day with pain and fatigue that lingers from radiation.

I am 48 years old. My parents are deceased, I live alone, and don't have children. When my mom passed away, I was gifted their lovely home (and the mortgage that came with it).  I have now been living in an area so geographically far from where I have lived in the past that my support system is lacking. 

I haven't been able to earn an income since March, which has turned into a serious financial hardship.  I am at serious risk of losing my house and my car.  As I am starting to feel better, my "job" is going to be getting my house ready to put on the market in the fall.  The month of August I will focus on selling valuables in order to pay for the upgrades needed to increase the value of my house.  I am not eligible for a HELOC or other type of small loan in order to do this.  I have just about exhausted my only savings to pay for much of my financial needs since March but I can no longer pull from that fund.

What I need help with is funding that will help me catch up on some past-due mortgage and car payments and support me with my other monthly bills just through the month of August.

The sheer volume of stress and overwhelm from this crisis makes it incredibly difficult to concentrate or find the physical and mental energy required to earn a livable income again. I am fighting simply to survive the stress.

My ultimate goal is to get back to the professional counseling practice I have had since 2013 but it takes a while to build a client base from the ground up.  I just recently started working with a local organization as a volunteer because being of service is not only something I feel I was put on this planet to do, but it is what brings me the most joy.   

I have the utmost respect for peoples' hard-earned money so every penny that is donated, I assure you will go only towards the following:

I understand that skepticism is high on the internet. I want to assure you that I have every medical record and treatment timeline ready to share as verifiable proof of my need.  I also welcome assistance if you are local and would like to volunteer your time in lieu of a donation.  This could be anything from landscape upkeep to helping me gather and get rid of junk from my house to advise and recommendations, to name a few.  And of course, one of the easiest and important ways in which you can help is to re-post and share my registry with others.
