In Support of Beasley/Hazelwood Family

Beasley/Hazelwood Family
A Family’s Journey Back to Love and Healing : We’re working, learning, and rebuilding after loss — and with your support, we can finally make it to our daughters in West Virginia who need us most.

My name is Lexis Nikole, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart, hoping someone out there will hear us.

Not long ago, we lost our home in the devastation of Hurricane Helene. With nothing left, we scraped together every bit of savings we had — $4,800 — to buy a camper. It was supposed to be our fresh start. A safe space. A way to rebuild our lives while staying afloat and finally get closer to my three daughters in West Virginia.

But the people who sold it to us weren’t honest. They promised it had no water damage. When we got it home, we found the floors were completely rotted. We’ve already had to tear them out and rebuild them. The walls are water-damaged too. The camper doesn’t even have a battery, which means the brakes don’t work, and we’re terrified of what else we’ll uncover. Every step has been another heartbreak.

We have contacted a lawyer about taking the sellers to civil court. But as many of you know, that process takes time, and there’s no guarantee we’ll ever see justice. Right now, our family doesn’t have the luxury of waiting.

In the meantime, we are stuck paying for a hotel while trying to fix this camper. With both of us only working gig jobs, the cost is crushing us. Jacob is in school full-time for music production, and I’m working toward my Reiki certification while also just beginning to pursue my dream of building a writing career. We are working hard to create a better life, but this setback has hit us hard.

And most urgently — my daughters in West Virginia need us right now. My 12-year-old especially has been through unimaginable events recently, and she desperately needs her mom and Jacob there with her. Jacob may not be her biological father, but he is doing everything in his power to help her carry her pain, to show her the love, stability, and support that a father should. She needs him just as much as she needs me. And our other two girls need us close as well — it breaks my heart being stuck here when they need their parents most.

Our original plan was to move up there right away after getting the camper, but this setback has left us stranded. To make it even harder, the situation with my daughter has caused major conflict in our family, and many people we thought we could lean on have turned their backs on us. We don’t have family we can turn to for help right now.

We aren’t asking for luxuries. We just need help to make this camper livable and safe enough to get us to West Virginia, so we can be with my girls and start piecing our lives back together after the storm.

 Your donation will go toward:
  • Repairing the water damage in the camper (floors and walls).
  • Getting a proper battery and power source so the brakes and electrical system work.
  • Covering hotel costs while we try to get this camper road-ready.
  • Helping us get to West Virginia to reunite with my daughters as soon as possible.

We’ve tried to do this on our own. We’ve stretched every dollar, every ounce of energy. But right now, we simply can’t do it alone.

If you can help — with a donation of any size, by sharing our story, or even keeping us in your prayers — we will be forever grateful. This isn’t just about a camper. This is about a family trying to hold on, to rebuild after disaster, and to get back to the girls who need us more than anything.

With love and light,
