We finished Weston’s first week of intensive therapy yesterday, and he worked so hard! 💙
Although his OT was out sick, his sessions still included sensory integration, primitive reflex work, and craniosacral therapy. He also worked on head and neck control while building his overall strength and stamina.
His PT is certified in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), a therapy technique that uses specific movements and positions to encourage strength, balance, and movement against gravity. We have seen such a benefit from this type of intensive therapy—it has helped Weston build momentum and strengthen the brain-body connections that are difficult for him.
We are incredibly thankful for therapists who understand Weston’s body and know how to support his individual needs. Next week, he will return for four more days with both PT and OT each day.
We’re also thanking God that Weston had no seizures this week, his congestion improved, and he enjoyed a few better nights of sleep— many answered prayers!
In the coming weeks, we have appointments with genetics to explore whether an underlying genetic change could help explain some of Weston’s challenges, as well as an appointment with the seizure clinic. Pursuing more answers is not easy, but we finally feel ready to take that step.
We’re looking forward to his final week of intensive therapy beginning Monday! 💙
