Weston wrapped up his two-week intensive this past week, and we’re so proud of him. Even when his little body was tired, he kept trying his best. 💙
Weston’s therapists are very specifically trained in the type of therapy they use with Weston. His physical therapist is specially trained in a technique called DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention), and is one of 500 in the world with her specific training. We are so blessed to have her working with Weston! His occupational therapist is also specially trained and uses so many techniques to work on his sensory and vestibular systems and his proprioception. She also uses very specific techniques to do craniosacral therapy with him. We are so thankful for them and their knowledge and their love and care toward Weston. They truly feel like good, new friends and really are a part of our family.
Through his intensive, he worked on head and neck control, using his hands, and bearing weight through his arms and even his legs some with the help of his arms and leg immobilizers. We’ve also seen him become more alert and aware of what his hands can do!
On the last day, after practicing prop sitting over and over throughout these two weeks, he held himself up for more than 20 seconds. 🥹 The kids and I were on the floor cheering as he kept pushing through his arms. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.
October is shaping up to be a big month. Weston will continue weekly therapy, we have a genetics appointment with several tests to undergo, and also has to complete some evaluations for his insurance. We’ll also travel to Vanderbilt to see an epileptologist, a pediatric neurologist who specializes in seizures, for guidance as his seizures have increased.
And at the end of the month, we have our 5K race, fall festival, and fundraiser for Weston! We’re grateful for everyone cheering him on and would appreciate your prayers for the appointments ahead.
God knew He would do big things through our boy. He teaches me so much through the way he keeps trying his best and works so hard. He is so pure and innocent and always joyful. He is our hero. 💙
