The Michael Family
Today marked a day the Michael family has prayed for, fought for, and waited so patiently to see.
After many challenges, setbacks, and uncertainties, Kendra was successfully transported by ambulance from Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to CHI Health Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska! Thank you to Med- Star Ambulance Service, from Brandon, South Dakota. The family is especially thankful to Jay Masur. Thank you for arranging this transport and making sure that no matter what happened in the transport, βthe wheels of the ambulance never stopped rollingβ between hospitals.Β
The family is thankful beyond measure that the transport went without incident and that Kendra is now settled into her room. Today represents more than a change in hospitals. It represents a new chapter, renewed hope, and another door that God has opened along this incredibly difficult journey.
The family had the opportunity to meet members of the medical team who will be caring for Kendra, and they could not be more encouraged. The preparation that had already taken place before her arrival was remarkable. They are especially grateful for Dr. Meyerβs willingness to take on such a complicated case and his determination to search for answers, if those answers can be found.
A few hours after arriving, Kendra experienced approximately 30 minutes of seizure activity, consisting of four separate seizures with brief periods of relief between them. While no parent ever wants to witness their child endure something like this, the family believes there may have been a positive side to what happened. Dr. Meyer was notified and personally came to Kendraβs room to witness the seizure activity firsthand. Having her new medical team observe what she has been experiencing may prove to be an important step in understanding her condition.
The Michael family also wants to express their deepest gratitude to the medical professionals at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, particularly the nurses who cared for Kendra with such compassion throughout this difficult journey. They have become family. Their kindness, dedication, and care will never be forgotten.
And to the countless people who have followed Kendraβs story, sent messages, offered encouragement, and lifted this family in prayerβ¦thank you. Every prayer, every message, and every act of kindness has meant more than words could ever express. Each of you has been a blessing to this family.
There are still many unknowns, and the road ahead may be long. But today, the Michael family is choosing to celebrate this victory. They are reminded once again that even in the most difficult seasons of life, God continues to make a way.
Today was a good day. Today was an answered prayer. And today, hope feels a little stronger.
Please continue praying for Kendra, for wisdom and discernment for her medical team, and for the answers this family has been searching so desperately to find.
God isnβt finished writing Kendraβs story.
