Week 3, Day 22
Today was a good day for this momma! I got to hold my little man after a week of not being able to hold him! It takes at least 3 nurses to get him into my arms but it is worth it and he sure loves being in mom’s arms!
These past few days have been kind of a rollercoaster for Weston. Been trying to figure out the perfect mix for his pain management, sedations meds and blood pressure meds. When he is awake he has high blood pressures, when he is asleep his blood pressure gets too low. His feedings started with 3ml every three hours and it has gone up from there. Weston is now getting a little over an ounce of breastmilk every three hours now. They will bring feeds up more when he can get off his blood pressure meds. When we first got here I really struggled with the decision of pumping for him because he was intubated and we didn’t know when he would get his breathing tube out but I am now feeling much better about my decision to keep going. Breastmilk is the only thing that I can really do on my own for my child right now so I’ll keep going as long as I can. I am also so glad for the nurse that wiped my tears and told me to keep going and that I was doing great!
Weston had the honor of having nurse Laurie today. Nurse Laurie has been with Masonic Children’s Hospital for 38 years and is now retiring. Laurie chose to take care of our little Weston for her last shift taking care of babies! We were very honored by this and it goes to show how much these nurses care for these kids as their own.
We will keep praying for a miracle! Thank you everyone for the support and the goodies!
