On Sunday afternoon I got discharged from the hospital we went home….leaving Stetson behind…. an empty car seat in the back seat… I cried all the way home….60 minutes…. I came home and everything felt so empty….staring at me was my empty bassinet….the drawer with all his clothes…. the rocking chair….it was a pain I have never experienced….the next night we had requested a room at the Ronald Macdonald house but unfortunately they didn’t have a room available and said they would furnish a hotel room…. On Monday morning the time finally came for sweet boy to start the warming process it took about 7 hours… they started it at 4:50 am and by 10:50 am his body had warmed to normal temperatures and he seemed to be doing good…. That afternoon things started going backwards…. I noticed some jerking and his eyes rolling back into his head…. And again he would open his eyes and look at me and then he would start jerking and his eyes started rolling back into his head….…I stayed at the hospital till about 8:00 that night and finally couldn’t take it anymore….He continued having seizures….they were wanting to do an EEG before giving more seizure medication…. I arrived at the hotel with red eyes and completely exhausted….i didn’t know what to do and how I could help my baby….I felt so hopeless…. I continued calling his nurse and asking how he was doing…. Thankfully we had a baby monitor on him so I could see him at all times….finally at 11:00 I call the nurse again and said I can’t handle this you need to give him some seizure medication he needs it…she also agreed and a short time later he had his EEG done and received another dose of phenobarbital….he calmed down and had a more restful night….his EEG did confirm he was having seizures so he had to stay on his medication….
