Chemo Round 2

After a quick blood draw in Pittsburg, we were notified that Eva made counts and could start chemo round 2 today. Nana and I took her to Kansas City and we hung out for the day, just the girls! On our way to our visit we got to meet with our new friend Jylee and her parents. It is so nice to have a fellow warrior mama to compare notes with! Since our girls are fighting the same cancer in relatively the same place, we have lots to discuss!
Dr. Thompson met with us and said that we need to prepare for our counts to go as low as they did last time and for her to have trouble eating again. I said that we would, but I know our prayer warriors will lift Eva in prayer and God will help her stay strong!
On our way home, I found out that James had gotten to play a C game in Galena and scored 4 points. My heart broke when he sent the final text, reading “and you weren’t there”. Having a child with cancer is hard. Having a child that is healthy and thriving, while the other is fighting for her life can sometimes be unbearable. If I could have been at that basketball game, I would have, but I couldn’t and now my oldest child is feeling hurt, left out, and a little neglected. This journey is so hard for all of us!
We are back to fighting with insurance because the bone marrow shot I have to give after chemo can no longer  be picked up at the pharmacy in Children’s Mercy, but has to be shipped from a speciality pharmacy and they are unsure if they can get it to use by Saturday, when the shot needs to be given. There is also the concern of paying for it because the shot is 6000.00 per shot, but through the company we were not having to pay for it. Big prayers that everything gets figured out and we get the shot on time.
Lastly, pray that Eva makes counts this next chemo round as well. If she does, our March chemo will be over Spring Break and I have promised her that we can stay at the Ronald McDonald house and make a fun vacay out of it. If you ask her, Eva’s biggest concern is that she will get sick or chemo will get loved and she will miss her 7th grade field trip to the State Capital. I do not believe I have ever seen a more excited kid to visit the capital!
Our prayer list is long, but as always please keep them coming. Pray for James as he navigates this lonely time as well.
