Standing in Faith for Eva
As I prepare for tomorrow, I can’t help but remember a conversation I once had with Christine Case at a basketball game. We talked about prayer and how hard we prayed for Eva and she mentioned that she always prayed for His will to be done… and then added But save Eva. Throughout the weekend, I have found myself praying the same thing, Your will be done, but please let me keep my baby.
Eva made it home from Children’s Mercy Friday evening before the snow started. By the time I got home with James, she had already went to bed and had a bloody nose. Saturday was more of the same, the never ending bloody nose and fighting with her to eat anything because she has mouth sores from chemo. She just would not eat and slept all day Saturday and Sunday. Monday I was able to get her to eat a little if I fed her and Tuesday she ate a little more on her own. She had blood work this morning and I was not surprised to get the message that she needs a blood transfusion and platelets tomorrow.
William and Eva are driving up tomorrow and spending 5-6 hours filling up Eva’s tank and praying that the blood and platelets stay in her body and work. I am taking her to Pittsburg for a blood draw early Monday morning to see if her counts are high enough for chemo, which is supposed to start Monday afternoon. I will update after those results come in as to when her next round of chemo will start.
Right now, she is enjoying a phone conversation with her friends, checking in on school “tea” (I said to get homework, but she is a 7th grade girl), and rocking her new bald look. William shaved buzzed her hair last night and Uncle shaved her head today. Until her counts are higher, she is stuck at Nana’s house or at home because we just can’t risk her getting sick. Keeping her home from church tonight was a real fight!
Keep those prayers coming and I am learning that the word “but” might be the heaviest in the English language, except for “no” which I refuse to believe right now. So pray on. Pray for strength, pray for this stupid cancer to leave her body. Pray that as much destroying as the chemo is doing to the rest of her body, it is kicking some cancer butt!!! Pray on. Pray hard. Don’t be afraid to add in that but!
