Happy Friday everyone!
Jumping on for our weekly update. Sienna is having a great week minus sleep. Sleep ebbs and flows since her brain injury. Some nights she's up for several hours at a time, other nights she's up just briefly. This past week in particular has been on the up for several hours at a time overnight. This is common to see post brain injury and hopefully as more time passes and her body continues to acclimate, sleep will improve.
Sienna reached for an o-ball toy during OT this week in a side lying position!! She was also attempting to move her self when placed on her belly and left there for a couple minutes. Sienna has been more attentive to her visual AAC device the last couple days as well. Sienna is beginning to show more signs of her smile returning, especially when baby sister is giving her kisses- she lights up! Sienna's eye contact and tracking have significantly improved. When something is placed in her visual field she immediately looks towards/at it. She is continuing to see the neuro chiropractor 3-4 times a week as well as her daily PT, OT & Speech therapies.
We are continuing to research different therapies/ treatments as well as beginning to reach out to stem cell clinics in both Austin, TX & Mexico so far. However, with everything being out of pocket cost there is urgency to continue fundraising. It is so crucial to get as many treatments and therapies possible within this acute phase of healing as this is the time the brain is most susceptible to creating new neural pathways to facilitate progress. We ask that you please continue to share this page far and wide with friends and family.
