We cannot believe that Sienna is halfway through her first DMI intensive at AKAP! It's been SO cool to see all the different techniques and tools used during the therapy sessions here. Sienna is already making progress with her head control and utilizing so many muscles during different exercises. Sienna was even able to help support herself in a quadruped position with no arm support from the therapist without any kind of bracing on!
She has been tolerating the longer sessions without falling asleep-which if you know Sienna, you know this is huge! ha. Post brain injury she has a tendency to fall asleep during therapy when she is exhausted. We aren't sure if it's the laser helping give her brain cells energy or what but we'll take it!
They also started to work on the initial foundation of crawling with Sienna and she is trying to initiate crawling and firing her muscles to help. There's been a big focus on rolling as well. She is starting to initiate more and more during rolling. It's truly so cool to see her responding to this specific type of therapy.  All the therapists & owner, Dana, down here at AKAP have been so kind, we will definitely be coming back next year for another round of DMI intensive at AKAP, hopefully next time for 2 weeks!
