And just like that, day 5 at AKAP is done. Sienna has completed her first week long DMI intensive at AKAP. We cannot believe just how fast it came and went. This first intensive experience has been truly amazing. AKAP feels like family already and we are so grateful to them and each and every one of you that donated to make this happen for our girl. We know that we will most definitely be coming back for another week long intensive (hopefully 2!) next year one way or another!!
Within this week long intensive Sienna has demonstrated increased head control & playing around with it on her own, especially in positions we didn't think were possible. She has shown increased energy and attentiveness during therapy sessions, her closed fists seem to be more generally opening more, she is initiating more independent rolling and even started to work on assisted crawling! Sienna was able to help hold herself up with pushing through her arms for a whole 15-20 seconds on the vibration plate while in a quadruped position! We also got a home program to continue doing specific exercises and stretches for Sienna along with her normal daily therapies.
We are so so grateful to Sienna's therapists both at Blythedale who work with her every single day and the therapists at AKAP who put in the hard work and determination to help our girly. AND we are so so so grateful to all of you. A HUGE thank you again for helping make this intensive possible for Sienna. Up next- NAPA intensive for 3 weeks in Boston starting at the end of Nov!
