The original plan has changed and continues to do so. Last week was supposed to be Todd’s last week of treatment and then we were heading into prepping for Transplant and was hoping to start his transplant mid March.
However; last month Todd’s numbers didn’t drop as much as they were supposed to. The “normal” range is 3.3-19.4. Todd’s number were close to 500. In fact he was low 400’s and we did a couple of months of an extreme holistic approach, which he had lived that lifestyle for the past decade but 10x’d with additional modalities. But, in that time, his numbers raised and hit close to 500. We were praying constantly of what to do and got those numbers the day he started his chemo treatments. It was a confirmation that we needed to go that route, and we needed that confirmation. We always thought we would handle things in a different direction if given this situation but God has led us every step of the way. Every step.
His numbers were going down quickly and by large amounts after each cycle. We have been so hopeful and excited each month to see the new numbers. Last month his numbers didn’t change much, only by 1 point. That wasn’t great news. We met with our doctor here as well as the Mayo doctor who is doing the transplant.
Both decided that in order to give him the greatest chance at the deepest remission, they wanted to start a new chemo. It’s a stronger chemo and could make him pretty sick, with some pretty crazy side effects…but if his numbers didn’t get lower, then transplant wouldn’t be as effective for him. The Mayo doctor also said if his numbers went up at all, then he would be temporarily ineligible for transplant.
2 weeks ago (before starting the new medicine) they did his blood work again and his numbers had dropped, slightly.
On Thursday he were at the clinic for over 7 hours for treatment. It was a very hard day, for many reasons. And I was really uneasy with the next months approach. We got his numbers back Friday. Not only did they not go down, they went UP.
I/we were really shocked and frustrated at first but then I felt this overwhelming peace that God is in the details and it was a confirmation to me that even though I didn't want this new medicine for him, it was the right one, for now. Todd said he felt this overwhelming feeling when they mentioned the medicine a few months back that he knew he was supposed to be on it.

So for now, he is ineligible for transplant unless his numbers go down and go down by a lot.
I always hear people say they are praying for us and we are so grateful. We feel them. We feel so much peace, love, contentment, gratitude….along with moments (thankfully just moments) of fear, sadness and frustration. Those prayers are carrying us and lifting us. We know we have angels surrounding us. We recognize all the miracles taking place. We feel our Savior by us every step of the way.
If you are wanting to know what to pray for specifically, I would ask for 2 things.
1-The new medicine does amazing with Todd’s body and he doesn’t experience any of the side effects.
2-His numbers drop and they drop by a lot so that he can be eligible once again and start his transplant in April.
We truly appreciate the prayers, love and concern and all the other many ways you have helped our family.
We truly feel so blessed.
