The Shuman Family
I know I have been needing to do an update. Honestly, the past 4-5 months have been extremely difficult for our family. Todd started treatment back up in the fall and he has really struggled with treatment this time. It's been really hard as a family to watch and hard for him to go through. We aren't sure why he isn't doing as well this time around. I am sure his body is exhausted and he also hasn't done as many of the natural modalities because they get so expensive. I wish they didn't have to be. But, we have to remind ourselves that what he went through, wasn't easy. That is hard on the body and recovery takes time.
Todd has had a lot of different reactions to his treatment from violently throwing up, open sores on his body and lots of sickness that his body is struggling to recover from. He is currently waiting to be seen from a pulmonologist because he has had a horrible cough for almost 6 weeks now. Unfortunately, his numbers aren't quite going down like we were hoping. In fact, they are slowly rising. But, that doesn't mean we have given up hope.
There have been a lot of tears from our family these past 4-5 months for multiple reasons but we are #Shumanstrong. We have learned to cry and also smile through the tears. I think we were expecting things to be uphill after transplant and things would be easier for awhile, and that just hasn't been Todd's journey.
With that being said, we know God is in control. We know He has us and he loves us and is mindful of our family and specifically Todd. We feel your prayers. Sometimes it is hard to ask for prayers still because we feel like "old news" but our story is as fresh to us today as it was 18 months ago. Your prayers have lifted us and strengthened us in ways we can't explain. So thank you and please keep them coming. We need them. We love you and are so grateful for you!!
