Emergency Room Visit

After we got on the ambulance, two of the EMS workers worked on getting jis oxygen back up.  We had gone up to 4 liters at the house.  One of the fire dept guys drove the EMS truck, so both of the ladies could stay in the back.  They asked me us if they could take him to Concord.  I didn't really want to at first, but it was a busy time for traffic and I didn't want to be stuck in traffic and he quit breathing or something.  We let them go ahead and take Nick to Concord hospital.  They put him in a room rather quickly and by the time I got sat down, there were 10 people in there trying to check him out.  They did 2 xrays and a CT.  Come to find out, he has pneumonia.  They transferred us to Levines in Charlotte.  They had a room ready for us.  They managed to get his oxygen down some.  During the night, the put high flow oxygen on him.  He was put on 25 liters at 35% and the next day was turned down to 15 liters at 35%.  On Thursday, they were able to take him off of high flow.  They started him out at 3 liters of room air and he did great.  He was a little emotional,  but finally got ok and went to sleep for the night with  the help of his routine meds. During the night, he was being changed and he started coughing.  I generally try to pick up his head when he coughs.  The nurses didn't and his o2 got down in the 60s.  The cardiac doctors were afraid to let him go home today because of that episode. We we planning to tomorrow.   We were not happy, but thankful now! He has still been gagging and throwing up bile some, along with coughing!   They have given him 5 days of IV antibiotics for his pneumonia.  He'  still getting his vest and breathing treatment.  He has been coughing up some stuff as well!   Around 5 PM after we were told we weren't going home today, nick started having excrutiating pain again like he did a couple of weeks ago when he had the BK virus!  I layed in bed with him and tried to console him for close to 3 hours.  Thankfully, the doctor working tonight was on it.  We were told a couple of weeks ago that he had malrotation of the intestines and that it was genetic.  That was the 1st we had heard of that!  I told the doctor tonight that the either needed to run tests, do exploratory surgery or send him somewhere where they could do something for him.  The doctor working tonight called the on call cardiac doctor and they agreed to give him some meds for pain, but not to make the symptoms go away.  The ordered a x ray STAT, so they  hopefully could get it in action if it was the malrotation.  The guy came and did the xray and they will compare them to the one from a couple weeks ago.   Right now, we aren't sure what is going to happen.  The doctor did say that if the xray didn't show anything, they would go to the next test!  I can't stand seeing him in this much pain.  It's not fair and I know for sure, he has already had more than his fair share of pain in his 16 years!  Please pray they can find some answers and soon!  Thank you!
