Nick's Recovery
Monday evening, Nick was very sleepy! He had had a pain patch to help with the BK virus since last Thursday right before we left the hospital. It had made him sleepy, but Monday was different. He got his 2 o'clock meds like normal and took his nap. The nurse was with us, thankfully and she had noticed him acting a little more unresponsive. His monitor for his oxygen had been acting up for a while. So the nurse called and someone came out and checked it. They ended up just replacing the machine. We thought all was well!
Even with the new machine. His oxygen kept getting lower and lower. The nurse called the Hospice nurse( who had just been by for a visit)! She called her provider and they told us to go ahead and go up to 4 liters of oxygen and to take the pain patch off! I quickly took it off and cleaned the area with an alcohol swab! It was then call 911 or us take him ourselves. I didn't feel comfortable taking him myself in case something happened on the way. I called 911and within a few minutes, the fire dept and EMS were there. They came in asking questions and thankfully the nurse was there, so she could explain it easier than I could. While they were getting all of the info they needed. I ran upstairs to grab a few things and threw them in a bag! They got Nick on a stretcher and we were out of the door!
