Kelly Shirley
This week has been a busy week to say the least. We started Monday with Kelly getting her second pluerx drain put in which did give her some relief after draining the fluid that had accumulated .
Tuesday we spent the day at the Oncologist where Kelly was given an infusion that helped strengthen her bones. She was also given some fluids which she greatly needed since she had started to become somewhat dehydrated. The unfortunate news we recieved that day was that we were not receiving her medicine to start treating her cancer. Apparently because she was a new patient the special pharmacy required 5-8 business days to process her medicine. Needless to say, we were not too happy with this news. We also learned that if Kelly didn't start the medicine by end of the week, that she would be admitted to the hospital for one round of chemotherapy. Certainly not the news we were hoping for but understood the direction given how aggressive this cancer has been.
Going into Wednesday we were prepared to be direct admitted to the hospital for Kelly's chemo treatment on Thursday at 8am, but God stepped in late Wednesday as we found out that Kelly's medicine (Lorbrena) was available for immediate pick up. This meant no chemo! As of Wednesday at 5:48pm, Kelly has begun her treatment which she will take daily. We will follow up with the Oncologist next Wednesday.
Kelly is so happy to have begun her treatment and for the days to come. Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support throughout these first few weeks. The support we've received can only be described as AMAZING!
I do want to share just how amazing and will plan to show case all the support that Kelly and our family has received in a post tomorrow.
God bless!!
