Day 1 π
What an AMAZING first day.
Today was a lot of evaluating and figuring out exactly where Keegan is and what skills we can build on, so we didnβt even get into the full nitty gritty yet, but he did SO much!
He worked in the SpiderCage on head control and bearing weight. He got to try VitalStim, which uses little electrical patches to provide stimulation to his oral muscles, and we actually got to watch him moving his mouth and tongue in response. He was so alert and responsive to everything they were doing with him.
His NAPA team is so great. I never once felt like anyone was unsure of how to help Keegan. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming, and the entire environment feels open, caring, and collaborative. They have a plan for him, and theyβll continue developing that plan together over the next three weeks to help him gain as much as he possibly can.
Watching Keegan do well as brought me so much joy. He is so resilient and sassy. He is giving some sour faces all while still continuing to do the work. He had 4 hours of therapy and was still happy and bright after. (Me on the other hand, I am π΄)
And I will never be able to say it enough: thank you. To every single person who helped make this dream a reality for Keegan, we are eternally grateful. Today was possible because of you!Β
