I am sad to report that Joe had a long and exhausting weekend.
A blood transfusion had always been a possibility, and unfortunately, the harvesting site on his thigh continued to bleed. As a result, Joe required two blood transfusions over the weekend.
In addition, Joe developed a MRSA infection in his nose, which caused his temperature to rise and led to a fever that he battled for much of Saturday. He is currently being treated with a course of IV antibiotics.
On a much more positive note, Joe’s grafting sites—his back, side, and right arm—are healing nicely. As we shared last week, his face, neck, and ear continue to do fantastic as well.
It has certainly been a difficult road, but we are grateful for the progress and are continuing to take things one day at a time. Please keep Joe in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️
