Joe Egana
Joe is still receiving various antibiotics to treat the MRSA in his nose, as well as the infection that has developed at his graft site. He continues to receive daily wound care for both the grafting site and the harvesting site on his thigh. Thankfully, the harvesting site has stopped bleeding, so no additional transfusions have been needed this week.
As you can imagine, there have been plenty of ups, downs, and unexpected turns throughout Joe’s healing journey. None of this has come as a surprise to his care team. The 15-bed burn ICU where he is being treated has seen it all before. While infections can certainly be scary, his team knows how to treat them, and they remain confident that Joe’s healing will continue.
One thing his care team has emphasized as being especially helpful to Joe is his unwavering positive attitude. For those who know Joe personally, you know exactly what they mean. He is an eternal optimist who approaches life with positivity and determination. Those qualities are proving to be invaluable as he continues on this road to recovery.
Thank you again to everyone who has sent positive thoughts into the universe, said a prayer, checked in, or made a donation. Joe and Greta are incredibly grateful for all of the love, concern, prayers, and support that have been coming their way. It truly means more than we can say. ❤️
