Hearing things. We're another step closer!

I'm sure many of you are wondering what we learned after the MRI I mentioned in the last update.

Well, the oncologist and surgeon told us pretty much what we were hoping and expecting to hear: the tumor has shrunk! 🙌🏻

While we're trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves, this is good news and another answer to prayer.

The next step is surgery, followed by some additional treatments. There's a lot more to it than that (waaay more than we were anticipating), but that's the quick version.

So there's still a road ahead of us. But we're hearing the things we were hoping and praying to hear, and we're grateful for every bit of good news.

While we were praying and believing for the best possible outcome, we knew surgery was inevitable and part of that outcome. And honestly, it will be nice to get physical confirmation about  the exact state of the tumor and any other cancer cells.

What we did hear was, "It's possible that the cancer cells are dead and we'll just be removing scar tissue." 🙌🏻  That's a sentence that gave us a  little boost of relief and renewed hope.

After a whirlwind of phone calls, new information, and a game of Schedule Tetris (how many appointments can we fit in, in the right order, with the right people, in the 3-4 week window after chemo?), we now have surgery scheduled for August 10th. It feels so soon, but it will be nice to get it done and focus on the next step.

After surgery, we'll be praying to hear the words we've all been praying and waiting for: "Yes, we got it all."

In the meantime, we'll continue doing what we've been doing. We'll lean on the help of traditional medicine, while continuing the barrage of cancer-fighting foods, vitamins and supplements, and other support that Jessica's body and blood are telling us she needs.

After the waiting, anticipating, and figuring out all the appointments this past week, I think we need a little Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God."
