Over the past 3 days, we have received some positive medical updates and were able to get some key medical appointments scheduled.  We completed a visit with Jen's Neurosurgeon this past Thursday and learned that the second aneurysm was found to be stable from the scan taken at the E/R last week. Jen continues to have severe headaches and pain at temples, behind her eyes and back of neck, which - as you can imagine - adds to her physical and mental fatigue.  But as you also know, Jen is a fighter and pushes through it all.

The neurosurgeon has given Jen the green light for her second, follow up brain surgery to address this second aneurism.  It will be August 11th.  We ask for continued prayers for Jen's continued healing and a positive outcome with this surgery.

We were also able to get a critical appointment scheduled with the special Opthamologist, who will formally assess Jen's sight acuity in both eyes.  This is is the first step required to secure support from the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) and also feeds applications for SSDI and other Federal benefits.  Jen already has two letters from her Neurosurgeon and a Directors of brain health from two facilities she has been in over the past 3 months, stating Jen is legally blind and they are requesting state/federal services to be expedited.  So, we are hopeful the outcomes of this upcoming visit will open a speedy path for Jen to secure MUCH NEEDED devices and services for the blind.

So many of you have offered to help Jen with daily chores in her home- Jen is overwhelmed by your love and support.  We are working on a calendar and getting times/dates in place for people to sign up. Thank you all that have offered and check out the SupportNow "lend a hand" calendar.

On the home front, we are learning that Jen's home has some significant needs and we are planning to use some of the funds you all have graciously donated to help get specialists out to help determine root cause of problems.  Please know that EVERY donation giving is being put to good use for Jen's near and longer term care.  We are prioritizing judiciously.  And we are grateful for so many of you who have knowledge in areas of construction, electrical, plumbing that has offered to come and help us find cost efficient solutions to some of these big challenges.

Many of you have also offered to come visit Jen to offer emotional support and company to Jen. She would love to welcome you all, and yet with her medical schedule changing frequently (appointments being added), it is a bit challenging to get a calendar in place. Please know that we are working to find a good way to help facilitate this and will be providing more information on this in future updates.

Note: We do have two amazing visiting nurses that are volunteers with Nashoba.org that have been instrumental over the past two weeks in helping Jen get her medications set up, and also researching additional services for her alongside work myself and a few other family members are pursuing.

Jen wants to make sure you know how much she loves you all and to express her deep gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, words of encouragement and offers of support.  I really cannot express on her behalf just how deeply you being here for her in her time of greatest need means.

Please do continue to share this SupportNow site with anyone you know in the Paramedic, Firefighters or EMT communities.  As well as any one who has been touched by stroke, brain injury and blindness.  This simple act is helping us amplify Jen's message and is clearly helping us keep support for Jen flowing during this early critical period of establishing longer term medical and financial support for Jen.

Jen sends her love and thanks!
