Hayes Four Hope
It has been about 5 months now since Kristin and her family made the courageous decision to transition her care to hospice. The hospice designation requires doctors to agree that the patient's life expectancy is around 6 months or less. Kristin, as usual, has pushed herself past her limits and defied everyone's expectations. She continues to do everything she can for her family, however the progression of her illness has constrained these efforts. She is dealing with extreme fatigue, forcing her to rest most of the day, and trouble breathing with any exertion, confining her to the house. She is also having more trouble with bouts of confusion and communicating with others. Despite all of these disabilities, when her sister visited, she put her family's needs first. She made sure that Mike, Maddie and Miles spent the day out enjoying time with their cousins. Because of her continued decline, Kristin has been re-certified for another 6 months of hospice. This will allow her to continue to get the care and support from nurses that she needs in her home now.
Caring for her family now, and after she is gone, continues to be her priority. As many of you know, Maddie is an excellent hockey goalie, and after participating in a camp at the North American Hockey Academy in the Boston area, she is very interested in attending high school there. Contributions for tuition and information or connections to help Maddie achieve her goal of playing hockey in college would be greatly appreciated.
Please continue to offer your support in any way that you can to the Hayes family.
