Emmy Lou
We are on day 16 of consolidation. Emmy has continued to blow us away with her determination and energy. She still loves going to walks, riding her scooter, and just being a kid! She had a weekend filled with fun, friends, and lasting memories (Thank you Thunderbirds🇺🇸). Nothing could keep this girl from the air show! Treatment days are long and frequent. We have been traveling to Medford almost every day for the last several weeks and while it makes for long days we are thankful to lay our heads in our own beds each night. Since week 1 we’ve been anticipating that her counts would drop. She started consolidation with her hemoglobin already low, so we have been expecting the need for a transfusion for a couple weeks, but it wasn’t until Monday that the need became more urgent, dropping to 5.6 (normal is 12-15ish). It made a long day even longer, but it proved to be worth it when the color came back to her cheeks and her spunk was noticeably spunkier. This evening she was back on her scooter, making me run at times to keep up. Overall, her ability to handle treatment feels like nothing short of a miracle. We keep expecting her to feel crumby as the chemo decimates her counts. Even as her counts plummet, her spirits are high and we are so proud of our little fighter.
Our friend Lauren designed the most amazing shirts/sweatshirts. It is a fundraiser, but she marked them up just a few dollars because more than anything we want them to be affordable so that as many people can purchase as possible. Emmy loves them and she can’t wait to see people rocking their shirts in support of her fight against Leukemia. Check them out at the link below!🎗️🧡
