Emmy in the second half of consolidation

It’s been a little while, so we wanted to provide an update on Emmy! Last week she started the second half of consolidation (a repeat of the first half). It’s intense on all of us as we spend all the weekdays traveling to Medford for 3 weeks straight.  A lot of car time—a ton of intense chemo time.  We are so thankful to the child life specialists and nurses who make the time enjoyable for Emmy with crafts and activities that keep her busy and distracted. Last week, Emmy got Nelarabine for 5 days straight (a chemo that is specific to T-cell ALL).  She handled it so well, but on Friday her lab work showed that she didn’t make counts to continue with chemo this Monday.  We feel thankful for a week break from treatment, but sad for her body that has to endure so much and sometimes takes longer to recover than they would expect.  Her appetite has also significantly decreased.  Yesterday she asked me to make lasagna for dinner, but when I dished it up for her, she just pushed it around with her fork.  I can’t remember the last good meal we got into her, and as parents it’s hard to watch her turn down every meal—even the things she typically loves.  Despite all of that, she’s been playing, golfing, catching frogs, and smiling through all of it.  She continues to amaze us with her strength, bravery, and resilience.  Thank you for continuing to pray for Emmy and encouraging our entire family in this journey!🧡🎗️
