Sorry for the delay in sharing an update — getting back home, unpacked, and back into our routine took a little time. Now that it’s Monday and Emerson is back at preschool and her regular therapies, I finally have a moment to sit down, go through pictures, and share more from our trip. 💗

Day 2 in Arizona was our first visit to Total Wellness — and the day Emerson received her stem cell transfer. We arrived at the clinic at 10:00 a.m. and didn’t leave until about 3:30 p.m. It was a long day, but such a positive experience. 💕

Her doctor was absolutely incredible and spent a lot of time helping Emerson feel comfortable, talking with her and with us. They also had a medical assistant there that Emerson immediately loved, so she stayed close to help play with her and keep her distracted. It made such a difference — Emerson didn’t even realize what was happening behind her and didn’t feel a thing. It truly felt like such a blessing.
The stem cell collection is similar to liposuction and was done in her lower back/side area where there is more fat. They spent a long time numbing the area to make sure she was completely comfortable. After the cells were collected, we left the clinic for about an hour while they prepared her stem cell mixture.

When we returned, Emerson sat on Bianca’s lap facing away from the doctor. First, they administered stem cells through a nasal spray, which allows them to bypass the blood-brain barrier. Then they did the stem cell injection in her lower back. They also used a more diluted stem cell mixture (similar to what athletes use for muscle repair) and injected it into muscles along her spine and other areas that needed support.

It’s honestly amazing — she didn’t flinch or react at all. She handled it like a champ 💗

It was a long day though, so she was very tired. Afterward, she got to pick out a toy from the toy chest, and we headed back to the hotel so she could nap and rest. We kept the evening low-key to let her body recover.

We went back to the clinic the next day at 11:00 a.m. for Day 2, and I’ll share all about that in the next update. 💕

Thank you all for continuing to follow along and support Emerson on this journey.
