Day Two Update
Day two of our clinic visit started back at Total Wellness. Emerson received hyaluronidase injections in several of her muscles, similar to how Botox was previously administered. These injections help break up excess hyaluronic acid that contributes to muscle spasticity. It’s a better option than Botox for her, and we’re really hopeful this is something we can continue with long-term.

She also had Shockwave therapy on her muscles, which feels kind of like a deep massage. She actually really liked it and did such a good job relaxing and letting them work through her muscles. Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that helps reduce muscle spasticity and improve mobility in kids with CP. It uses acoustic waves to increase blood flow, break up trigger points, and help reset the nerve–muscle signals—often making physical therapy even more effective.💪🏻

That appointment lasted about an hour and a half. Afterward, we went to the building next door where Emerson and I did a 50-minute dive in their hard-sided HBOT chamber. It was our first time in a hard-sided chamber, and surprisingly it made me feel a bit more claustrophobic than the soft-sided one—but Emerson did amazing through the entire thing and handled the whole day like a champ.🤗

One really cool part of this visit is that the doctor prescribes a set of supplements that are specially formulated just for Emerson. 💊They mix everything based on exactly what her body needs. We went home with them, and they’ll continue refilling and adjusting them throughout our six-month treatment plan.

Overall, it was a long but really positive day and we're feeling encouraged by what how well Emerson is handling everything.🤗

Next steps:
We will continue doing daily exercises at home every single day to help teach and train the stem cells where to go in her brain and body and where to heal.

We’re scheduled for a 3-week DMI Intensive in St. Louis at about 9 weeks post–stem cells, which is right in the ideal time frame to do one.

In April, Emerson and I will head back to Phoenix for Phase 2 of her treatment, where she’ll receive PRP (platelet-rich plasma). PRP helps “wake up” any stem cells that may have gone dormant and gives them a boost to get back to work—that’s the best way I can describe it 😊 While we’re there, we’ll also do a second HBOT dive.🩷
