Emerson Bonine's Stem Cell Journey
I have a lot to update, but I wanted to start with some really good news — Emerson did AMAZING on her first flight. 🤍
I was honestly pretty nervous about how she would handle it, especially with her shunt, but I truly believe the HBOT sessions we did beforehand helped prepare her for the pressure changes. She didn’t even seem to notice at all, which was such a relief.
As soon as the plane started moving down the taxiway, she started saying “weee, weee!” and it turns out… she LOVES takeoff. We kept her busy with drawing and her tablet, and she did so great the entire flight.
I think the absolute highlight of the trip for her was the Sky Train at the Phoenix airport. She loved how fast it went and had the biggest smile on her face, saying “weee, weee!” the whole ride. Other passengers were smiling and laughing because it was just that cute. Those little moments are everything.
Our first day in Phoenix was pretty low-key. We got settled into the hotel and then met up with our friend Dan for dinner. Dan moved to Phoenix about 4–5 years ago from Minnesota — he was in our wedding, and Tyler was in his — so it was really special to see him. Emerson immediately wanted him to hold her and sat with him the entire time. She was a big fan right away!
I wish I could share videos directly on this platform, but I’ve linked a video of Emerson on the Sky Train below because it’s too sweet not to share.
I’ll be sharing more updates soon about the rest of our trip and how stem cell therapy went next. Thank you all for following along and supporting us on this journey — it truly means so much. 💗
