Cody Update: Round 3 Complete

Round 3 of dinutuximab was ROUGH. Like, really rough.

Cody had significant edema, HIGH, HIGH, HIGH fevers reaching 105°, delirium, and bronchospasms that caused hours of intense coughing. His urinary retention was still there too, although thankfully it was MUCH better this round...and he was able to avoid a catheter! 😂🙌🏼 You better believe he was VERY happy about that.

Saturday was especially scary. We were very close to being transferred to the Pediatric ICU so they could keep an even closer eye on him. His providers and care team were incredibly concerned, but they kept reminding us of something that brought us so much comfort:

This was the medication. This was NOT his cancer.

And then later on Saturday afternoon into Sunday, he started to turn a corner. ❤️

We finally got home Tuesday and MY GOSH. The difference already is unbelievable.

The picture I’m sharing is from TODAY, and this kid is already looking SO much more like himself. 🥹

He’s EATING (which is HUGE because he normally doesn’t eat for weeks after treatment), he’s playing, staying up, laughing, and acting more like Cody.

And the BEST part?

HE GETS TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY!!! 🎉

I truly cannot believe I’m typing this…

We have only 10 more days of treatment left. 2 rounds of 5 days each.

Pending his scans on September 25, we could officially be DONE WITH TREATMENT. 😭😭😭
