We wanted to share an update on Cody’s most recent scans and bone marrow results!!
Overall, we are seeing a continued and meaningful response to treatment, and we are very grateful for the direction things are moving.
His bone marrow biopsy results are especially encouraging. There is no morphologic evidence of metastatic neuroblastoma, meaning no cancer cells were seen in the samples taken from either side of his pelvis. His bone marrow is still recovering from treatment, which is reflected in lower blood counts (anemia and low white blood cells), but this is expected after intensive therapy and not unexpected in this phase. This is incredible news and exactly what we want to see!!
His MIBG scan shows ongoing improvement as well. There are no new areas of disease identified anywhere in the body, including the bones, abdomen, or pelvis. The previously involved lymph nodes in the chest/mediastinum are smaller and showing less activity than before, which the radiologists describe as a partial treatment response. PTL!!!
For example, one node decreased from 0.8 cm to 0.6 cm, and another from 1.4 cm to 0.7 cm, showing clear reduction in size. Importantly, these areas are also taking up less tracer, which suggests decreased biological activity. PTL!!!
The only remaining finding is a very small amount of residual uptake in a few mediastinal lymph nodes. Because of this, his overall Curie score is now 2, with all other body regions scoring 0. PTL!!!
The radiology impression summarizes it as a partial treatment response with continued decrease in size and activity of the remaining lymph nodes, and no evidence of new disease. PTL!!!
In simple terms: the treatment is working. The disease we previously saw continues to shrink and become less active, the bone marrow is clear, and there are no new areas of concern. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!
