Cody Update ❤️
A little update on our sweet Cody.
His care team has decided to hold Dinutux round 3 for another week to give his lungs a little more time to completely heal. Cody’s lungs are where his inflammation loves to go...it always has been that way. So, after his recent PICU stay, his team is being extremely cautious. There is absolutely no rush, and we are thankful they are taking the extra time to make sure he is truly ready.
Dinutux can also be hard on the lungs and can cause bronchospasms, which is when the muscles surrounding the airways suddenly tighten, making it harder to breathe. Because of that, they want to know his lungs are as strong and stable as possible before starting another round.
I’ll be honest, Cody looked a little sickly to me this past week, and that was incredibly triggering for both Eric and me. After everything we’ve been through with him, every little change can make your heart stop for a second. But the encouraging part is that his labs are super reassuring, his weight is solid, and today I saw a BIG change in him. ❤️
We have him doing inhalers and nebulizer treatments every day, and they have really helped. Right now, we’re focusing on the basics: nutrition, sleep, breathing treatments, and letting his little body heal.
And then, on the most personal and crazy side of life…I’m officially in pre-labor with baby boy #4. 😭💙 We should be meeting him within the next week, which means Cody is about to become a BIG BROTHER for the very first time!
Easton, Shep, and Cody are ALL so excited to meet their newest brother. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival while also trusting God with the logistics of having Cody in the hospital, potentially having me in the hospital at the same time, and keeping the older two in school.
So…PRAY FOR US. LOL. 😂🙏🏼
I genuinely don’t know how we’re going to juggle all of this, but I do know this: thank heavens for our tribe. The people surrounding our family, loving on our boys, helping us, praying for us, and showing up in a million different ways have carried us through this season more than they probably realize.
We are tired. We are hopeful. We are overwhelmed. We are excited. We are trusting.
And above all, we are trusting God with every single piece of it. ❤️
