Cody's Comeback
We wanted to share a quick update on Cody and also help explain just how far heβs come in a way thatβs easy to understand, as many of you have asked!!!
At the very beginning of this journey, Codyβs cancer was all over his body. It was in his adrenal gland (near his kidney), lymph nodes in his chest and belly, his liver, and even in his bones. His MIBG scan (a special scan that shows where neuroblastoma is active) had a score of 26/30, which means there was a lot of disease in many places.
After everything he has been through, chemo, a 10-hour surgery, two stem cell transplants, and radiation, we got his most recent scan results.
And they show a huge change.
- The tumor that was originally in his adrenal gland is gone (it was removed in surgery)
- The cancer in his liver is no longer showing as active
- All of the cancer that was in his bones is now gone on scan
- The spots in his chest/lymph nodes are much smaller and much less active
- No new areas of disease were found
- His overall MIBG score dropped from 26 down to 2
Right now, the only remaining spots are a few small lymph nodes in his chest that are continuing to shrink and show less activity. His doctors are calling this a partial response, but in real life terms, it means his body has responded extremely well to treatment so far.
We are very grateful for how far he has come.
On a more immediate update: this week we also found an infection in his PICC line, so we were admitted to Riley late last night. Because of that, his PICC line will be removed tomorrow. He will have 48 hours without a central line, and then he will get a port placed Monday. Once he heals from that, he is expected to start immunotherapy later next week!! Just a little hiccup :)

We are taking things one step at a time and are so thankful for his care team and everyone walking this with us.
Thank you for continuing to pray, support, and stand with Cody. π€
