It will close the area where there is a void in the roof of his mouth and the soft palate that's right behind the roof of the mouth. That way food and liquids don't go up through the void and out of his nose or down into his lungs. I believe he will have to be tube fed until surgery, yes. He licked some wet food 2 days ago and it came right out of his nose. Tube feeding is scary too. You have to make sure you're getting it into his stomach and not his lungs. Otherwise, you drown him. With him being a puppy he doesn't sit still for you to do it either, so it's definitely challenging. Most would euthanize a puppy with a cleft palate like his but as long as he had a chance, I was taking it. If he had the possibility of a normal life then he deserves it. If he would never have quality of life that would be different but he does. Thank you for the kind words. We are definitely trying.
