Calvin has been on his medications for about a month now and we are continuing to see some really meaningful changes. One of the biggest moments we recently shared was a video of him saying "hi". We cried happy tears for days! God continues to bless us and give us signs that he hears our prayers. 

Dad and I haven't heard him say it for ourselves yet but we are so grateful our cameras captured him saying it not once but TWICE! We also believe  he may be responding to questions by saying “uh huh.” Because of Calvin's condition and his trach, we have not heard his voice too much. Hearing his voice is music to our ears and pure joy to our hearts. His voice is beautiful. 🥹

This week, Calvin successfully swallowed avocado. 🥑 Our current goal is for him to safely swallow 20 mL of food or water by mouth. He hasn’t eaten anything by mouth since he was about three months old, so this is a huge step and something that has to be done very carefully to prevent aspiration and pneumonia.  He loves root beer DumDums.  🍭Momma just ordered him an entire pack of root beer flavor ONLY.

This Monday he will be getting another round of Botox injections to help loosen some of his tight muscles, which should improve his range of motion. He currently is unable to tolerate wearing his AFOs (ankle foot orthosis) for the full 8 hours due to redness and stiffness so we’re hoping to get a new pair of AFOs  soon. We also have a fitting on Monday for a specialty chair that we will be working to get insurance to cover. On top of all that, we have our very first appointment with Innovative Therapy this week!
