Hello friends and family!
I hope everyone is doing well and made it through the winter wonderland. I enjoyed watching it from inside and our boys had a good time sledding. Still home from school so ready for them to get back in a routine (not sure they are :-) )
I had 3 days of chemotherapy last week and have been recovering from that. I am starting to feel more like myself today thank goodness. I have had significant dizziness from the chemo which is similar to the last few rounds. If it does not continue to improve they may need to change my chemo medication for next round. Praying it resolves as the chemo seems to be working so I would like to stay the course.
I have made it through 3 radiation treatments so far- yay!! With the help of Ativan, music, really nice technicians and imagining wide open spaces during treatment I was able to endure the treatments despite my claustrophobia. I actually went without Ativan yesterday so was happy about that. I will have treatments Monday to Friday weekly for 35 total treatments so each finished treatment feels like a win.
I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday and my bloodwork looked good. I have chemotherapy again in 2 weeks. If I am doing ok I will have a last cycle 3 weeks after that. Some patients are not able to tolerate the 6th and final cycle due to dehydration and other factors so we will see how I feel. He said the radiation treatments are the most important right now as far as treatment. It usually takes patients at least 6 weeks after finishing radiation to feel better and have enough energy to be able to work so I will be taking more time off than expected. I know this is a necessary part of the journey but it still is hard to be off for so long and away from my work family and patients.
I have a long way to go but it does feel good and encouraging to have an end date for treatments. Last day of radiation is currently scheduled for 3/19/26. That will be a happy day!
I also received normal biopsy results from my thyroid nodule so very thankful about that. Will have followup yearly.
Thank you all again for the support, love, prayers, encouragement, meals, cards, texts and so much more. Big shout out to my dear friends Sarah, Kelly and Kristen who took me to chemo last week and kept me company. I am not sure what I would do without them. I am so grateful to you all!
