Hello friends and family! Since my last update and chemotherapy last week, I have been resting and recovering. This round hit me really hard with exhaustion and dizziness so I unfortunately was pretty much in the bed for days. I am starting to feel better each day now which I am very thankful for. I had a long day of appointments yesterday and my labwork looked good! Yay! I was able to get the shot Friday to boost my white blood cells and it is doing it's job. We think this round might have been tougher as I was still recovering from the recent fever and illness. The Cisplatin can also be dehydrating so I had iv fluids yesterday and will have them again tomorrow and possibly next week if needed. I also had a thorough dental visit yesterday with a lot of xrays which is required before radiation therapy and was cleared to move forward in Feb so that is good news. Apparently some patients have to have extractions prior to radiation so thankful that is not the case for me. I must admit this past week has been tough for me mentally and emotionally as I have a hard time not being able to do anything for my family. I keep telling myself that my job right now is to fight and beat this cancer and I will do whatever it takes including resting when needed. Dave and our boys have been amazing through it all and Dave is taking on the role of Mr. Mom very well. I am so grateful for the encouraging texts, messages, offers to help, rides, meals and so much more from family and friends. You all are our village and I am so thankful. A sweet friend sent me this verse yesterday which has helped so much
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. " Isaiah 41:10
I am feeling better each day and praying I will be able to work Friday. I miss seeing my patients and families. Another word of thanks for having the most understanding and supportive work family. I am not sure what I would do without them all.
I am looking forward to Christmas week next week and hope you all have a special and wonderful holiday!
