Hello friends and family! I wrote an update last Tuesday 2/17 but do not think it went out for some reason. Anyhow, I have been hanging in there. I finished cycle 5 of chemotherapy last week. The doctors say the side effects are cumulative which I believe as this weekend I felt pretty rough and was in bed the whole time. I got iv fluids yesterday which helped a lot and am feeling a little stronger each day. I am officially halfway through radiation treatments which feels amazing. My biggest struggle currently is getting enough nutrition as it is difficult to eat with the side effects of radiation. I am trying to be a good patient and following all recommendations. My doctor prescribed some stronger pain medication today which should help as well with the sore throat/mouth that has resulted from radiation. I am praying I can power through these last 3 weeks of treatment so my body can heal and beat this cancer. I realize now I was not prepared for the mental toll this whole journey would take on me. BUT I am so grateful as each time I am feeling down and defeated I either receive a text, card, encouraging word, email or feel a prayer which lifts me up. God knows what I need each step of the way and I am so grateful that he has put such a wonderful group of friends and family in my life to help me through this. I have radiation 3 more days this week and have fluids and labs Thursday. Thank you all again for everything- I am so grateful.
