As I want to be very pro-active with my future health I have opted to do a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction - at least that's my dream outcome (no necessary radiation or chemo).
If my lymph nodes are all clear, that's what we'll be doing in early May. It's a large and lengthy surgery but hopefully it's a one and done type deal. I met both the main surgeon (Dr Houle) and his PA (Roxanne). They're both quite nice and have many years experience doing exactly this so I'm feeling pretty positive in their ability to take care of me.
What I'm not feeling pretty positive in, is my ability to manage my very large but very sweet dogs immediately post-op. I may need to find someone for them to live with for a week or so until I'm not terrified of them ripping me open with their enthusiastic loving.
