Zeke's Journey
First of all, thank you so much for those of who who brought meals. What a huge blessing to us. It really did ease my stress so much. Meals really are one of the best gifts when we are in the middle of treatment.
I wanted to start off the update with some good news. The h.pylori is not as high as I originally thought so I’m praying that our appointment with Dr. Freeland will be able to focus on his overall gut health so he can better fight off this bad bacteria. Will you pray as well?
Ability continues to go well. Tally and Zeke continue to connect and bond which only increases the effectiveness of his treatment.
On Thursday, Tally really pushed Zeke therapeutically, and I am so proud of Zeke for persevering. He doesn’t like to use his talker unless he is doing it with his SLP. She had him play a game with another young man who uses a talker. Zeke was very hesitant at first but this young man had a good sense of humor and was able to draw Zeke out (with Tally’s encouragement). They ended up having a lot of fun and teasing each other utilizing the devices.
Zeke continues to work on his core, his arms and his fingers. Tally and I have been discussing his hamstring tightness and she believes it is most likely due to the tightness in his hip flexors and a specific pattern he goes into for protection. Will you pray that this pattern is adjusted and that he is able to move his arms, head, and legs functionally without being inhibited by this pattern?
Tally was really impressed with Zeke’s resilience and how he likes to figure things out. For example, she was teaching him how to push off a wall with his feet while he was in a fabric swing. It clicked and then he began to experiment different ways to do this movement! One leg, both legs. His target was to bonk a ball with his head when he launched and he began using his legs to steer him!!
We see Dr. A on Monday and we are interested to see what his recommendations will be. Will you pray for wisdom and clarity in his assessment? And for good communication between him and Zeke, as well as him and Tally?
Thank you for reading our updates and praying for us. 💖
