Zeke's Journey
Wow.
Day 10 & 11 have been big days. I’ve had to just sit and ponder on them. God is definitely doing things in Zeke’s body. I believe God has perfectly positioned Tally’s giftings and knowledge with where Zeke has come from and beautiful jumps and growth are occurring.
I’ve had to sit back and think through our journey to get here. This is our 5th intensive. Every intensive he has blown our minds, and every intensive had built on the one before. I stand in awe of God’s movement in each step. And at the same time, I know we have more to go. Both/And.
But for the moment, I’m choosing to celebrate. Bc I vividly remember the moment in the NICU where they ushered me and Jon into a conference room to show us Zeke’s MRI. The blows that came that day. The lack of hope that was poured on us. But then today. I can’t post a video on this platform but Zeke walked 40 steps in this stander. This is the most unassisted he has ever been. I could watch the video over and over.
God’s delays are not His denials.
God’s timing is definitely not my timing, but I am always reminded at intensives that God is never worried. He knows where we are headed and He knows how to get us there.
This is a miracle. Some may struggle with that word for a variety of reasons but that is what I saw today. Another miracle. Little miracles are as important faith builders as the big ones. I might even argue that they are bigger faith builders.
Zeke’s fingers are coordinating better. He is gaining much better control of his arms. He is more accurate when he reached (watch out if you’re around him bc he will for sure grab ahold of whatever he can get). He was able to hug his best friend by really bending his arms this weekend. He is working on pushing up to a sitting position. He rolled to his side this weekend without using any assistance. His fingers are listening to his brain. Tally noticed that he vocalizes more when he is sitting and that had a direct connection to the midbrain — WHERE HIS INJURY OCCURRED. This is not coincidence, friends.
And then today, he walked 40 steps. Alternating his arms and legs. Reciprocal movement which blows everyone’s mind bc that is not always the story - many times the child bunny hop first and then has to learn how to walk right, left, right.
Things to pray for:
(1) If he needs this stander to keep improving, will you pray for provision? It’s very expensive.
(2) Dr. A and Tally have both said this is a vital time for him bc a growth spurt is coming and we need to get his hamstrings to lengthen. Will you pray his legs will fully straighten by Friday? And be able to move functionally?
