Camila continues to have significant abdominal distention, pain, and difficulty tolerating nutrition despite ongoing treatment for her VEO-IBD flare. Today, her team is doing additional imaging to look for possible bacterial overgrowth, which could be contributing to her symptoms.
Given how limited her nutrition has been and how hard her gut is still working, the likely next step is to move forward with placing a PICC line so she can receive nutrition through her IV while her intestines rest and heal. This is a supportive step to help her regain strength and support recovery while treatment continues.
This hospitalization has unfolded very differently than we ever expected when Camila was first admitted. What we hoped would be a short stay to stabilize her symptoms has turned into a much more complex and difficult course, with escalating interventions and decisions we never anticipated having to face.
The last several days have been especially hard. Camila has been through so much, and watching her endure compounding medical procedures, discomfort, and uncertainity has been incredibly heavy. We are doing everything we can to say strong, present, and steady for her, even on the days when this feels overwhelming.
We are deeply grateful for the ongoing love, prayers, and support surrounding our family. Please continue to keep Camila in your thoughts as we navigate these next steps and hold onto hope for relief and healing.
With love,
The Weilnhammer Family
