Memorial Day has always been a special day at our house.  Growing up, Mom/Kelsey would make sure that Ellie and I paused what we were doing to observe the Memorial Day ceremony at the Holy Cross Cemetary across the street from our house...Taps, the 21 Gun Solute, soldiers marching.  We knew it was a day of honor and rememberance.

This year, the cousins had the opportunity to share that memory together and with their Gramma.  It may not seem like a big deal to them now, but I hope the reverence that Mom/Kelsey instilled in Ellie and me/Lacey rubs off onto them over time.  (Next year, we'll make sure they stand as the flag goes by, haha!)

Mom/Kelsey has had 9 of her 30 radation treatments as of this morning.  She has also been taking oral chemo every day since the start of radiation.  She is doing well!  She is beginning to feel the accumulated effects of the treatment, and that manifest as fatigue and some nausea.

She has had the strength to venture out to church, Target :), some grad parties, etc..  And, she is chatting with us about plans for the weeks to come.  We continue to pray for her strength and comfort as treatment continues over the next 4 weeks.

We could never post an update without THANKING everyone so much for your continued love, support, prayers, messages, meals, etc..  Your contributions have been so generous and so thoughtful.  We cannot even begin to express how grateful we are for each and every one of you!!

It's like doing a marathon. Fatique and energy come and go with attention to needs.....rest when need to.....allow the flow to carry you kelsey.......not a natural response......we are taught to "push through it".......allowing HIM to lead respects that from time to time HE carries you and there are two footprints as you rev up with renewed energy. Many marathon runners/walkers "hit the wall" of "not sure i can" about 20 miles in....Both so close and so far. And then you KNOW you can. Bliss comes as the finish line comes into view.

At 52 I walked a marathon in my home city. I did it to learn about trust and faith. I'm not an athlete. Wanted to do sonething there was little chance i could do in my own. Trained for it but no way could I have finished that race without "giving it up to God" and allowing the flow to get-er-done. Life changing.

So now I pass it in to you. Follow without pushing. Smell the roses. Value the good. The days and treatments will click past.

SO MANY PRAYERS SUPPORTING THE JOURNEY.
