Wayne & Kelsey Ritscher
Mom/Kelsey is two weeks into her break from treatment that, so far, has not been much of a break. Because chemo and radiation are designed to accumulate in the body and continue to work even after being actively consumed, the side effects of them also stick with you.
Nausea and loss of appetite have led to some pretty significant dehydration and a couple of nights' stay in the hospital this week to get Mom/Kelsey's system back into balance. IV fluids and some electrolytes have been a big help, and we'll see how she does going into this weekend. Dad/Wayne and Mom/Kelsey have some travels planned over the next couple of weeks, so we pray that she's over the hump!
I've been thinking lately a lot of the woman from the Bible who bled for 12 years. She was deemed "unclean" by law, and anything that she touched also became unclean. This makes her going up to Jesus to touch his cloak so remarkable. But she did it, and Jesus responded with, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
I don't think I would have been able to do that... Lately, my faith has been, I guess you could say, weak. I find myself asking "Why?" a lot. But, Jesus calling the bleeding woman "daughter" while remarking on her faith provides significant comfort. In Him, we are freed from our suffering.
We hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer and had a safe/happy 4th of July. Dad/Wayne shot off some fireworks from the pond for Mom/Kelsey to watch from the porch, which she said were really special. (Thanks to everyone who helped make that possible!)
We continue to appreciate and lean on all of the love and support that you send in various ways. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
