Tina Wickes Stage 4 Cancer Journey
These last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotion. As I mentioned in my last update, the cold capping was not working and I was coming to terms with losing all of my hair. Early last week, I decided it was time to cut my remaining hair and go all in with the shave. That moment was met with tears, laughter, relief, sadness, hope, all of the emotions.
Over the weekend, a group of friends and I had a girls weekend at my family cabin and I released my cut locks over the edge of an outcropping of rocks. It was therapeutic in a way, a physical act of letting go and embracing what comes next.

This last month and a half has reminded me that I don’t want to put my life on hold. Yes, I’m going through something incredibly hard. Yes, there are days when the emotions hit me like a ton of bricks. But there are also still so many things I love, so many people I love, and so much LIFE left to live.
So I’m going to keep doing the things that make me happy. I’m going to laugh until my stomach hurts, make memories, spend time with my people, get outside, travel when I can, celebrate the little things, and say YES to the experiences that fill my cup. I’m going to keep showing up for myself.
My new shaved head may be a visible reminder of what I’m going through, but it does not define me. It doesn’t get to take away my joy, my sense of adventure or my hopes and dreams.
So yes, I’m hairless. I’m scared. I’m hopeful. I’m grateful. I'm joyful. I’m still figuring it all out, one day at a time.
But most importantly, I’m still here. And I’m living.
Next week brings my third round of chemotherapy, I am kicking this cancers ass one treatment at a time. 🩷💙💚
