Psalm 29:10-11
The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
May the LORD give strength to his people!
May the LORD bless his people with peace!
Last week felt like a flood. Other than constant days of rain, the week was heavy and weighty and drowning. Not necessarily from any specific doctor’s report but the diagnosis in general, decisions to be made, physically/mentally tired, other family issues, etc. But this Psalm reminds me that the Lord sits enthroned over the flood. God’s not unaware, He’s not wringing his hands thinking “what am I going to do?” He sits enthroned over our flood, he’s reigning over the diagnosis and the details and our family. Not only is He in charge of all our stuff, He is King FOREVER. Whew.
And because He is King and lovingly calls me his people (not because I earned it or deserve but because of Jesus Christ), He gives us strength and peace! Amen.
Tim started his second phase of Standard of Care Wednesday night. It is a 28 day cycle. Five days of taking more than twice the dosage of Temodar (chemo) and then has the next 23 days off. He’s taking it before bed so hopefully he will sleep through any side effects. No problems the last two nights and he felt fine in the morning!
I may have mentioned that a friend that happens to be a neurologist, Larry Epperson, was diagnosed March 2023 with glioblastoma. He and Jennifer have held our hands and guided us through this process. First, they are really fun friends but also we are so grateful for the knowledge, encouragement and witness they are to us.
Yesterday Larry officially became Tim’s neurologist (he was mine from last decade’s meningitis, but that’s a whole different long story). Larry ordered an EEG due to some tingling Tim had on Monday, and all looks clear. I’d probably have tingling too if I did all Tim attempts to do on the weekends. Maybe I should hide Tim’s pickaxe, weedeater, tiller, and anything with the word “saw” in it and just leave the riding lawn mower. But praise God that he has the ability and desire!
