Today's update is from Tiffany :)

The kick ass journey has begun…

I got started with my chemo regimen on Wednesday 4/30 which is a continuous 24 hours a day drip for 7 days. I’m able to work remotely which has helped me to not get bored and to be able to focus on something else. Before I got to Mayo last week I spoke to David, one of my favorite clients, and shared my cancer news. He reminded me that his wife is an oncology nurse and gave me her cell # to reach out to with any questions. Such a small world and just another example of how many incredible people and resources I have in my corner while going through this!

So far treatment is going well. Tonight I will get my last bag of chemo in this cycle that will run until it’s empty. My blood numbers will start to plummet at that point and then turn back around. I am learning how to take all of this one day at a time.

I’ve started looking into wigs and trying them on which is an overwhelming and scary process, but as I keep telling myself - it’s just hair and it will grow back!

Mayo is amazing and I feel very taken care of.  I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else except home, but you know what I mean!

For many who know me - I have a hard time asking for help or saying I don’t feel well or that I need something.  That has changed with cancer - if I start to feel queasy or have pain somewhere, my Mayo care team jumps on it.  For example:  I had a pain in my left calf and I told my nurse about it.  Next thing I know they are wheeling me down to ultrasound to see if I have a blood clot.  Findings were that, yes, I had a blood clot in my left calf, which they started treating/monitoring it.

I love all the messages I have been getting from everyone!  Words can’t express how wonderful and appreciative I am of everyone’s support!  I can feel my tribe fighting the fight with me!

Here’s to kicking cancer’s ass!

It’s going to be a day by day journey and you got this. For now, as directed, I’ll hold off on flower and animal deliveries, but be ready for a f’ing rose bowl type animal parade when you’re out of there.
