Johnny's Sixth Week

Six week update - it’s August aka Johnny’s original birth month. 

Johnny is continuing to do well over all and is now 4lbs 13oz… so close to 5lbs! This past week he had his second head ultra sound and everything looked good and normal!

Johnny has 2 big milestones he’s working toward: 

1 - coming off his nasal cannula to room air. He had a trial on room air this past week and did well for a day but his numbers were dropping and he needed to be put back on the nasal cannula for oxygen support. 

2 - work on feedings to be able to take full bottles consistently and come off his feeding tube. Johnny is eager to take the bottle and often takes majority of his milk. However, he has a bit of reflux which causes his numbers to drop as he is still learning to breathe, suck and swallow.  

Some days it feels like we are taking one step forward and two steps back. But he is a strong little one and we are amazed daily for his health and progress.
