October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we want to encourage all the ladies to show yourself some love by
1. Checking your "girls" and under arms regularly for unfamiliar lumps and unusual symptoms and...
2. scheduling your annual mammogram!
When Elly recognized the lump in her breast, she contacted her doctor who quickly responded to the concern. This led to diagnostic testing to determine next steps. As her family and friends, we are grateful Elly took regular self assessment seriously so she could begin fighting the  cancer as soon as possible.

It is estimated that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer in her lifetime. If you have family history of breast cancer you are at greater risk but 85% of cases have NO family history. While checking for lumps / unusual symptoms consistently is valuable it DOES NOT preclude the need for annual mammograms since many cancers don't present as a lump you can feel. Thankfully, most breast cancers in this time can be treated.

So, as a gift to yourself (and your loved ones!) this coming Sweetest Day,  PLEASE learn to give a self exam and get your next mammogram scheduled!

With Much love,
Suzanne and Elly's Warriors
