The Velasco Family

It’s been 35 days since my brother in law, Eduardo Uriel Velasco, was detained by ICE in Frederick, MD then subsequently transferred to a facility in Texas where he is currently being held. Yesterday, we received information that due to a federal court ruling that occurred this past week, detainees are no longer entitled to a bond hearing. (News article: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/appeals-court-endorses-trump-policy-of-holding-many-ice-detainees-without-bond-hearings/) Due to this ruling, Uriel will now be detained until late March with no present possibility to be released on bond. This news is devastating. We are emotionally spent. We know that this is being done in order to demoralize immigrants and their families. No matter how exhausted we are, we won’t give up. We remain determined to see our goal through to bring Uriel home. Due to the extension of Uriel’s detention, we are asking for our supporters to continue to share our story and to continue to volunteer if you can. Things are not getting easier as time goes on. We miss him so much that it hurts. If you would like to volunteer, I (Janely), created a separate page. Please visit this link for sign ups: https://signup.com/go/pYsWEBP . Thank you for your continuous support, your prayers, your time volunteered and your contributions. They are not in vain. We look forward to the day that Uriel can read all your comments and see all of your impact. Thank you. God bless.
